A downloadable game for Windows

Star Mountain is a fast paced 1v1 game where you must race to get a star before your opponent. Build your own platforms, and block your opponent to get to the star first!

Controls:

Player 1:

  • Move: A/D
  • Jump: Space
  • Duplicate: G

Player 2:

  • Move: Left/Right Arrow
  • Jump: Up Arrow
  • Duplicate: . (period key)

These controls are set up for if it were to be in wonderville. Another version of the game lets you hook up controllers too.

Tips:

  • Holding down the jump button can help tremendously. You can stick the the bottom of platforms, and launch off corners.
  • Don't just rush for the star, try and pay attention to your opponent and what they're doing. You can always try to block their path, or use their duplicated selves to aid yourself.

Bombs:

Bombs are good. If you touch the bomb, it will destroy every duplicate of the opponent, and respawn them.

How it was made

Star mountain was the first game I made, and worked on for a few months in Unity. My main purpose at first in making it was less for the game development, and more for working with the visual programming language, Max. Using MaxMSP I made all the sounds and music for the game, which respond and adapt based on the gameplay. At first, I communicated between Max and Unity using OSC, but later wanted to package the audio with the game, so I switched to using Pure Data instead of Max. I integrated my Pure Data patches using LibPD after recreating all my Max patches in PD.

Future Plans:

I'm finishing up the online multiplayer implementation and then will upload it to steam greenlight.  Also will add many more maps and *maybe* more power ups in the future.
